Shy

Shy

He jerks
The door open after bathing.
The steam oozes out a deep musky sigh.
She peekaboos through the pine door slats,
Across a narrow landing wanders her eye.

Baby he calls her,
'Take a look, look!
Dis a wa born and form you.'
Her mouth open wide - peering in his eye,
She stands in shock as a pillar of stone.

Sniffle, snuffle, she starts to cry,
Crystal drops roll from her bashful brown eyes.
He leads her to the room on the right,
Together they lie in a tight embrace
As Dawn breaks in through the curtains.

  1. Hello there . To whom wrote this. WOW.. tragically horrid yet so beautifully written. I appreciate the invite to read. and thank you for the feel. Poetry is only poetry when you can feel the same feeling as the one who is writing it. Nice to meet you .

  3. The frankness of this just lends to the tragic nature of the piece. As I read and re-read it out loud I find myself getting more involved with the fate of the girl. So sad.

  4. That is interesting. Initially, the poem was not a sad poem. Just an intimate exchange between father and daughter.
